About the Horse
I recently found out that Leo’s real name isn’t the one I’ve been calling him, “The Leonator”. It turns out that his real name is Pepo Leo Lena.

Leo is 7 years old. I wrote a blog about his personality called, “Leo the Horse with Anger Management Issues,” a few months ago. I was wrong though. Since I started the CowhorseU program, I’ve gotten to know him a lot better. I think that asking him to do the exercises in the program really engaged our communication skills with one another. He’s no longer the tense and sometimes frightening horse that I used to know. It’s been a tremendous change, one that everyone has noticed.
He’s all about the business of learning right now. He’s relaxed and attentive and listening. I think thats been one of the best parts about this process of learning how to train a performance horse: one day I woke up and realized we were a team and we communicate with each other like a team. Pretty cool.
