Hello ReinersBlog community. Its good to be here. LesVogt Cowhorse U is a great investment. The foundation level is very well put together. I love the students in the clinic, because they make the same mistakes we all do. Thank you Les, and thank you MJ for this home on the web Range.

  1. VERY cool photos! Maybe I could go on a ride with you guys someday? It looks beautiful where you are. Do you camp out there? If so, what do you do with the horses at night? Hobble them? I’ve always wanted to try horse camping, but don’t know very many people who do it.

  2. Thank you. Yes come ride with us. Sometimes we pack in, sometimes we truck camp. We have been camping out of a truck alot in the past 5- 10 years. Horses can be taught to stake out, or tied to a picket line. With hobbles on horses can travel almost as fast as no hobbles. Some people use hot fence, but elk and moose and horses will run through it.
A 3 way hobble slows a horse down pretty good. Sunny is loose in that picture in Hells Canyon. Rosie the mare is grazing in hand. If she leaves, he leaves. This is a packing school secret for keeping horses in camp. One mare will keep most geldings in camp. Everybody has a different method, kind of like horse training.
