First Slide: It’s Really Working!
I don’t have a lot to say today. It is Halloween after all, so I have to get back to eating candy. I just want to say that Leo slid today for the first time. Everyone in the arena who saw cheered and his owner ran into the arena and hugged his horse. I want to say it was a ten foot slide, but it was really only about 2 feet….maybe a foot and a half.
The funny thing is that I didn’t even really know that it happened. I was just trying to show Jim how well Leo was doing with flexion at a canter. He was keeping his head nice and low and giving to the pressure of my hands. I went around a few times and knew he wanted to stop, so I just leaned back a teeeny weeeeny bit, said “Whoa,” and pulled lightly on the bit. They said he looked fantastic and really tucked his butt under.
I LOVE LEO! And I LOVE MY LES VOGT TRAINING VIDEOS! I feel more optimistic every single day. Jim, the owner and diehard team roper said, “mmmmaybe I won’t try to rope on him this summer..maybe I’ll just let you keep working with him…” Huge compliment. Point of this blog post: training is going extremely well. (Sorry for shouting earlier, I’m just so proud of Leo. He’s being such a great horse.)

We’re sorry to inform you MJ, you’ve contacted an incurable disease. The symptoms will only get worse. You’ll begin to forget birthdays, anniversaries, holidays….but memorize all 10 reining patterns. “Non-horse friends” will feel pity for you - “horse friends” will only make the disease worse. You will begin to think the answer to all the problems in your life are “in the neck”.
There are no support groups yet but maybe I could make a billion dollars if I started “Reinaholics Anonymous”
