aldunning_book.jpg What do you say about Al Dunning? Theres no way to fit it into a paragraph. You have to read his site biography page to get an accurate summary of his overwhelmingly successful career. He’s won AQHA world championships nine times, NINE! He has videos, books, DVD’s, he’s a trainer, a consultant, offers clinics, and has served on numerous committees. Read the bio! He’s a legend.

Career Highlight (quoted directly from Al Dunning’s site):

Al Dunning and his students have garnered 21 World titles, including 9 AQHA World champions, 9 AQHA Reserve World Champions, 7 AQHA Amateur World Titles, 500 Arizona Year End champions, 3 AJQHA World Champions, and 11 All-American Congress Winners. Al also placed in the 2001 NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman contest.

Again, this is small portion of his career highlights. The list of achievements is long.

If I ever run into Al Dunning I definitely need to buy him a drink…or maybe a yacht. He got me started with an article in The Western Horseman magazine probably before you all were born.

I don’t remember the exact article but I sure enough remember his advise on rein control and “shaking” the reins with your fingers rather than “pulling”. 30 some years later I think of that advise about every time a grab a rein.

Now to tell a little secret about Mr. Dunning…he had curly hair back then. But he still got a really cool first name huh…………..?
